Bespoke Design Case Study for Counselling Client

Heidi Jolliffe

On February 28, 2013 we completed a bespoke design project for this counselling client of WebHealer

About the Client

Heidi Jolliffe is a Counsellor based in Farnborough, providing counselling and psychotherapy in the Farnborough, Camberley and Guildford areas. She also offers Supervision for counsellors and specialises in therapy for children and youngsters, using creative play. She is BACP registered as well as UKRCP registered.

Summary of Client Requirement

I had worked with Heidi a few years previously, helping to source and add some images to her website’s pages. She felt ready now to take her business’s online presence to another level to help attract a wider range of clients, and was looking for a new bespoke design that would feel modern, clear and professional.

Design Considerations

During our initial phone conversation Heidi was very clear about wanting to make a bold impression with her website, and she wanted to be actively involved in the process of developing and implementing her new design. From our discussions we decided to focus on a very simple overall look, using images in the content of each page to provide a strong visual and emotional connection to counselling. Green was initially considered as an accent colour for links or headings, but once we had sourced our images the colour became a much more integral part of the design; so instead of playing a minor role in the colour palette, it ended up being the defining feature of Heidi’s new ‘brand’. Creating this ‘brand’ included some Photoshop work on the images Heidi and I agreed on, giving them more impact as well as tying them in to the overall design. Apart from the image work though, the design is very clean, airy and unfussy with generous spacing around elements.

Client Testimonial

"WebHealer have managed my website for the past 8 years. I was introduced to bespoke designs a while back but due to a busy counselling and supervision practise I held back. In hindsight I wish I hadn't because when I did finally make the call to James to modernize my site the service he provided was welcoming, quick and very effective. In no time at all my thinking for a fresh new design was out there for all new potential clients to view. The changes have initiated many new enquiries which has enabled me to pay for the work already. I would not hesitate to come back in the future, so thanks James its been pleasure to work with you."
