Bespoke Design Case Study for Counselling Client

Dr Lesley McGown

On March 10, 2017 we completed a bespoke design project for this counselling client.

About the Client

Dr Lesley McGown is a UKCP registered psychotherapist working in central Cheltenham, offering psychotherapy or counselling to both individuals and couples.

Summary of Client Requirement

Dr McGown was already using a bespoke design on her website, being one of Griffen Mill’s earliest clients back in 2009. While that website continued to attract clients and gave a distinctive online presence, changes in design and the emergence of responsive, mobile-friendly websites over the previous eight years meant it was time for an ‘upgrade’.

Design Considerations

The original 2009 bespoke design used a painting as a basis for the overall look of this website. Moving over to a responsive design allowed us to continue using that painting, but we were now able to integrate the overall design and content on the pages in a more sophisticated way, placing sections of the painted image across different pages of the site. Other styling like the choice of fonts and the colours used for headings and links in the design were already more or less decided from the styling of the previous design, but we were able to again update the look of the site for modern browsers and devices, using fonts that would render identically across any desktop or mobile browser and scaling information on the page in a way that made it clear and readable across any screen size.

Client Testimonial

"Overall, it was a pleasure to work with James. He was very helpful along each step of the way and his explanations were consistently clear. I also much appreciated his patience and skill in optimsing the effect of the painting across my webiste. I have no hesitation in highly recommending his services."
