Icons for Therapist Websites #01

Icons for your professional therapist website

Check out these great icons below. We made them on request from our strategic partner WebHealer, who told us that many of their clients could use icons like this but didn't have the skills to make them by themselves, or the resources to contract a designer. So they asked us to make some of the most common ones that their clients could use for free. We've also agreed to allow non WebHealer clients to use the icons. See the copyright notice below for more details.

Animated GIF or Static PNG / Download Tips

There are lots of icons below. We've made them in 4 different colours, one of which should hopefully match your website colour scheme. We've also made them in two different formats.

  • Animated GIF - These are the most fun, but the range of colours is limited, and some of them only work neatly on white backgrounds. If you have a coloured or non white background to your web pages, in some cases the Static PNG will work best.
  • Static PNG - This version isn't animated, but you can put it on any coloured background and it will blend in professionally
Once you've decided which one you prefer, just download the image to your desktop. On a Windows PC you simply right click on the image and click Save Image As or Save Picture As. On a Mac, you can click and hold on the image, then drag it to your desktop.

Icon 1 - Free Initial Consultation

Here's the first icon. We thought it would suit a lot of counsellors or other therapists where there is likely to be a series of consultations over a period of time. For those searching through directories for a therapist, particularly if they are unsure about taking a first step, or whether they will get on with the therapist, a free initial consultation might just make the difference.

The Animated GIF version comes in four colours as well as a black white option. As explained above, some of the Animated GIF icons only look professional on a white background, and this is one of them. You can see below that the background to the content for this website is off white, so the icon doesn't blend in neatly. You can compare this with how the Static PNG versions look in the next section.

The other option is the Static PNG version. This version will blend on top of any coloured background, so it may look more professional in the way it blends in, but won't animate. Here is the same image repeated twice, first on this website's standard off-white background and then on a dark one.

Icon 2 - Special Offer

The second icon is a general purpose special offer. If you have decided to make a special offer, you absolutely want people to notice it, so a fun icon like this will help a lot. The offer can be anything you like, whether its 10% off or a one hour session for the price of half an hour. Just put that in the words alongside. The idea of the icon is that it gets noticed. The Animated GIF version comes in 4 colours again, plus black and white.

Icon 3 - Gift Vouchers

Offering gift vouchers is a great option for many therapists. It can bring in extra business around Christmas or Mothers Day for example. Just like special offers though, your busy website visitor who is skim reading your pages may not spot that you offer this option if its just a line of text. They won't miss this graphic image! In fact, it looks so appealing, you may get some extra business from people who had no intention of offering a therapy as a gift.

Again, we have an Animated GIF version available in four colours, as well as black and white. There is no Static PNG version for this icon.

Icon 4 - Limited Time Discount

The final icon is for use when you want to offer a discount, but only for a brief period of time, say just after Christmas or if business is slow mid Summer. Its a similar idea to the Special Offer, so you may wish to experiment with using this option compared to the Special Offer icon. Limited time offers are very commonly used in advertising, as it encourages the browser to take action, rather than putting it off until later, and then very possibly forgetting about it. This ticking clock leaves the browser in no doubt that if they come back later, the discount may have run out.

Need Something A Little Different

If you are looking for a variation of these icons, please check back on this page in a few days. The designer who created these, Alex, is working on a fast method of generating variations which he can offer at low cost, rather than the hundreds of pounds worth of design time that went into these initial versions.
